Abbey, Daniel
Daniel was born in 1977 in the industrial town of Basingstoke, England. He has had no formal art training; his skill is a result of keen observation, reading, and a burning desire to "just discover". His work carries a subtle blend of his cross-cultural identity - his father is British, his mother is Filipino - and his "east meets west" identity permeates his work in an understated, teasing fashion.
Daniel is based in Manila and is best known for his unique "fingerprint art". He creates black and white images of an almost photographic nature using only a standard stamp pad his fingerprints. His realistic works are commentaries on life and celebrity, subtly questioning human identity through the use of his fingerprints. His work has reached the US, Great Britain, Norway, and New Zealand.
